Holy Rosary - Wea Catholic School sits in the Northeast corner of Miami County, Kansas and just five miles from the Kansas/Missouri State line, as well as three miles to the Johnson County, Kansas line. While we are considered a rural school, we have all the amenities available to us that larger more suburban schools have due to a great location.
Holy Rosary - Wea was built as a new facility and opened its doors in the fall of 2000. We opened our first year with preschool through fourth grade, and it the short years since, we have grown to preschool through eighth grade.
Holy Rosary - Wea is the parish school of Queen of the Holy Rosary Wea Parish which has been in existence since 1869. Our parish has a rich history for education dating back to the year 1905. Wea School, a rural school of grades first through twelfth was a public school built on parish grounds and staffed by religious Sisters of the Ursuline order. When the area began to consolidate rural schools, Wea School was closed as a public school in the 1960's. The parish purchased the building and operated its own grade school until it finally closed as well in 1972.
With our feet planted deeply in education and the new population growth, the parish community, eager to have a parish school once more worked hard to create a beautiful new school. The new Queen of the Holy Rosary Wea Catholic School stands on the grounds of tradition overlooking the historic church and the old Wea school that holds memories to many parishioners who once called Wea their educational home.
In the summer of 2005 we celebrated the birth of our new school with Alumni festivities for our fellow "classmates" from the old Wea School. It was a great success with many smiling faces, and memories to share. We continually strive to create many lasting memories while educating our children at Holy Rosary - Wea.
