School of Religion (SOR) provides catechesis for children in kindergarten through eighth grade.
SOR meets on Sunday mornings, 9:40-10:45 am in the School.
Tuition: $50.00 for one child, $90.00 for more than one child
- Baptism - Children of school age who have not previously been baptized, are asked to enroll in the School or SOR and to complete a preparation program to be determined by the parents, pastor and DRE.
- First Reconciliation - Preparation includes enrollment in SOR at the child's normal grade level, a parent meeting, an at-home text and work, and participation in a communal penance service, usually on the Sunday after Thanksgiving. Children normally prepare for this sacrament in second grade, but older children also participate as needed.
- First Communion - Preparation includes enrollment in SOR at the child's normal grade level for at least one year, participation in the Sacrament of Reconciliation, a parent meeting, an at-home text and work, and a retreat. Children normally prepare for this sacrament in second grade, but older children who have been enrolled in religious education for at least one year may also participate.
- Confirmation - Preparation for this sacrament is a two year process usually begun in seventh grade and completed in eighth grade. Young people enroll in SOR classor the Parish School, participate in service, attend occassional meeting with their sponsor, participate in a Confirmation Retreat, and complete written assignments.
